Oswald is the brainchild of Deborah Herriot-Howes who has lived in Markham all of her life. Deborah is a family law lawyer practicing in her boutique law office on Main Street Markham. As a family lawyer, Deborah represents children of all ages in the courts. She advocates for peaceful resolution through mediation in all areas of her practice.
She is also a professional musician, currently performing with her husband Phil Howes at City of Markham events. She is a Past President and current member of the Markham-Unionville Rotary Club, as well as the founder and director of the Markham Unionville Rotary Club Choir.
The creation of Oswald and his story has been a long time in the making. “I wanted to inspire young readers to notice the beauty of nature all around us and to appreciate how asking questions can foster positive relationships in our world,” she says.
